First responders answered a call Tuesday morning on Hwy 76 west of Lazy H Drive, in Pauma Valley. The call came about 8:58 a.m.. after a white four-door Toyota Camry sedan hit a tree.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 52-year-old man from Valley Center was traveling eastbound in a white Toyota Camry. For reasons still under investigation, the Toyota veered from the lanes of traffic and collided into a tree.
The CHP and fire paramedics responded to the scene to assist the driver. Unfortunately, the 52-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The roadway was affected from the time of the collision until about 11:41 a.m., as the scene was investigated. It is still unknown if alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the cause of this collision.
The investigation is ongoing, and the CHP is asking anyone who has information or may have witnessed this incident to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at (760) 643-3400.
