The Valley Center Pauma Music Boosters this week announced that the 2016 MusicFest will be held on Thursday, June 2 at the Maxine Theater, starting at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and drumline and leading into the concert time of 6:30 p.m.

The concert event is free for the community and will feature barbecue dinner and raffle item tickets for sale as part of the Valley Center Pauma Music Boosters ongoing fundraising efforts. Each year the group is chartered with supporting about 800 band and choir students at the elementary, middle and high school programs.

“Our school district does a great job of supporting the performing arts here in Valley Center so our task as music boosters is to help cover costs where the need arises, whether it is for purchasing new competition songs, special uniforms for drumline or buses for competitions,” said Diane Conaway, VCPMB presi- dent. “This year, the music students have outdone themselves ranking at the top at their various competitions and so you won’t want to miss the last free concert of the season where they will be showing off all their hard work.”

been scheduled for Saturday June 4 at Bates Nut Farm but will now be consolidated into the Spring Concert regularly scheduled for June 2 as an opportunity to showcase the Valley Center Middle and High School Drumlines.

The Drumlines will perform in the outdoor amphitheater in front of the Maxine lobby and guests are invited to buy their barbecue dinner and watch the performances in the 5:45- 6:15 p.m. window. The program will shift indoors into the Maxine Theater for the concert, marching and jazz bands complete with vocalists.

The Valley Center Pauma/Music Boosters is a nonprofit organization, designed to support and maintain music in Valley Center schools. Their funds purchase and maintain hundreds of instruments for hundreds of 5th to 12th graders. The Boosters also provide the supportive funds necessary for the students to participate in competitions.

The VCPMB annual goal is nearly $100,000 to cover expenses of these programs, including uniforms and performance clothing. Membership is as low as $5 a year and members receive event information and updates.
