Letter to the Editor: BOYCOTT RITE AID AND OTHER GANGSTERS

Editor, Roadrunner:

The May 2nd David Ross’s expose of Rite Aid, the corrupt County Planning Group and the reference to Bill Horn upset me. David meant to do that and did a good job of it. So, readers forgive me, I am compelled to rant.

Rite Aid will not get another penny from me whether they are in Valley Center or elsewhere. I have repetitively filled one prescription for my mother at Rite Aid in Escondido. I will pull it and write a letter to Rite Aid telling them disrespect for our community will not win my business.

Maybe, if enough of us protest and write letters to Rite Aid, Shell, Liberty Bell and Tractor Supply they will either get compliant, move out or stay out.

What if several hundred of us picket and blockade the Rite Aid building site and let them know they are not welcome to seduce County Planning and put up a non-compliant business in our community. Rite Aid might decide to delay construction and become compliant with what our planning group requires. If we succeed Shell and Liberty Bell may have second thoughts.  As for Tractor Supply, let’s not shop there until they do something to show some loyalty to Valley Center with a civic works project, e.g., indoor public pool. Or, maybe go bust and move out of town.

As for the corrupt County Planning Group, have we ever attended their meetings in masse to protest their arbitrary disregard for our duly elected planning group? How ridiculously arrogant and obviously crooked. If we can’t get a minimum of a hundred people excited enough to visit these hoodlums we deserve what we get. Why have our own planning group, if our votes are meaningless?

Yes, we moved to this community for serenity and tranquility not to imitate Mahatma Gandhi. At one point some of his followers laid down in the path of galloping British horses.  Are we ready to lay down in the path of Rite Aid bulldozers?   Can we at least continue  to fill our prescriptions at Community Pharmacy and buy scooped ice cream at the Deli?
