Letter to the Editor: JUST ANOTHER FLU BUG?

Editor, Roadrunner:

We have quite the “pandemic” going on.  Fear mongering in the media has us fearing for our lives.  Rather than rant and rave about “overkill,”  I thought I’d write some positive and constructive information.  Let me state right now I am NOT a doctor. This is not meant to be medical advice. I am only relaying information that might be beneficial.

As a refresher, coronaviruses are RNA viruses named for spikes around the virus body, resembling the sun’s corona or crown.  All life instructions are contained within DNA inside the cell’s nucleus.  For those instructions to leave the cell, they must be transcribed into RNA.  For RNA to translate into amino acids, the building blocks to make proteins, they must have a 5-prime cap and a 3-prime-poly-A tail.  Unfortunately, coronavirus RNA already has this cap and tail.  Voila, the instructions are changed to recreate more virus.  Some colds and flus are coronaviruses.

Further, coronaviruses are transmitted through respiratory droplets and picked up by touch.  Going to the store?  Wear cloth gloves (gardening) since viruses don’t survive well on soft surfaces! A cough or sneeze can travel 100 mph and well over 9 feet.  Social distance 6 feet?  See someone coughing, back up and go around!

You’ve already heard of some drugs that show promise for healing, one being Chloroquine.  My purpose is to inform you of products that will prevent or discourage the virus from attaching to your cells:

Garlic, black and green tea, turmeric, ginger, oregano, cinnamon, Omega-3’s, all boost your immune system and fight respiratory viral infections, according to jayajayamyra.com.  Cilantro, parsley, kale, pomegranates, coconut oil, sweet potatoes, all provide strong anti-viral protection.

Besides food, nutritional supplements have been studied and tested worldwide, regardless of what the FDA thinks:  Vitamin C (Orthomolecular News Service 1/30/20),  Vitamin D3 (very cheap!) (American Journal Clinical Nutrition), Colloidal Silver (Journal of Nanotechnology), Zinc (Armen Nikogosian,MD).  Elderberry, Licorice Root, and Olive leaf.  Of course, a basic vitamin is the start, such as Centrum or Centrum Silver.  Start with a multiple vitamin/mineral, 2000mg of Vit C, Vit D3, 1000-2000 Omega3, according to Charles Ben, Ph.D. (greenmedinfo.com)

In conclusion,  I am not a doctor!  However, it makes sense to not get sick to begin with!  Make your body inhospitable for viruses  (or just wait and hope!)  Reduce risk of getting any virus-related illness.  My wife and I take quite the handful of supplements; if you do the homework, you will too!

When anyone “relays” health information that is not supported by people who are experts in public health the information is suspect, especially when the “relayor’s ” only source is our President, FOX and other alt-right media who have called the virus a hoax and failed to act even when warned months in advance of the impending pandemic. The deaths of thousands of people is on their hands and no relaying of fiction can ever change that.

What if the “experts” are wrong? It’s not like that’s never happened before. Here is part of my response to Keith, on another page, which was never posted:
People with compromised immune systems die from the flu every day. The cause of death was NOT the ‘flu’ germ.
When the statisticians – the honest ones – look at this in a few months or years, they will see that the death rate did not differ markedly from the usual number of deaths due to the flu, which according to government statistics varies from 25,000 to 65,000 – EVERY YEAR. Look it up for yourself. Of course, there will be more deaths due to covid – not because of some particular strain of flu virus, but because more flu deaths will be labeled as a covid19 death. To a hammer, everything looks like a nail. The economy wasn’t doing great before, but now it’s ruined, and all over nothing.
And yes, Keith, Pasteur was wrong. Here’s your chance to educate yourself:

No political references in Mr. Macey’s post at all. But perhaps his reference to Chloroquine was the trigger for your misplaced rant. If it was, then you’ll want to fact-check your claims with a reliable source when commenting on COVID-19 or related issues, specifically the who did what, when and why — The Lancet (it’s a peer-reviewed journal in the UK) and the ancillary articles and reports that reference that journal are a good start. They’ve been fooled only a few times over the years. Also worthwhile reading for COVID-19-related facts are The New England Journal of Medicine, the journal Science, and the Proceedings of the Academy of Sciences. That light reading should help expand your point-of-view about [begin rant] The Simpleton’s curated news about COVID-19 we’re spoon-fed in politicized 10-second sound bites from mainstream cable networks and other news outlets [end rant].

Bill — I’m not a big fan of online “green hawkster docs” (I recognize one of the sites). But I do appreciate the variety of recommendations as well as the attributions you provided. Naturopathy is a huge field now, big enough that Big Pharma’s jumped in. But I’d scratch Colloidal Silver off that list. Too many unknowns pop-up in primary research.

Read my posts under the story “The New Normal”. I stand by every word. And again, Pasteur was wrong? Really? You are a dangerous person, Bill. Someone will believe you and die because of it.
