Tour bus crashes enroute to Casino Pauma

At approximately 10:49 p.m. Sunday night, a tour bus heading southbound on Pala Temecula Road collided with a metal guard rail near Aruba Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The bus was headed from Los Angeles to Casino Pauma with 18 passengers on board. After colliding with the guard rail on the east side of the road, the bus careened to the opposite side of the road and crashed into a boulder and several trees.

The driver reportedly was unable to stop the bus as it entered the curve due to brake failure. Ten people, including the driver, were transported to Palomar Medical Center to be treated for various complaints of pain, the most serious being a laceration to the head.

The roadway was closed for several hours and the cause of the accident is under further investigation by the California Highway Patrol. It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
