VCP School District in-person classes to begin

Friday the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District teachers voted to accept the memorandum of understanding for a hybrid of in-person classes. Friday evening the school board voted to approve in-person starting dates.

The board motion, approved unanimously, was as follows: “We would like to make a motion that our Mod/Severe Special Education students start on Thursday, October 29. Our TK-5 students will start the week of November 2nd and our students grades 6-12 will begin the week of November 9.”

The board also approved a motion to approve the three-teacher preparation days for all hybrid teachers on Monday, October 26-Wednesday, October 28. These three days will follow the regular Monday schedule.

Further details will be provided by principals of the individual schools.

The Roadrunner will publish an update on the individual schools when we get the update from the principals.

The print edition of The Roadrunner that comes out Thursday, and will be mailed to everyone in town, will include the full bus school schedule. Transportation is limited due to COVID-19.  Necessary adjustments have been made.  Students MUST REGISTER for transportation prior to boarding any bus. Registration information can be found on the VCPUSD website, Myschoolbucks,  or contact Transportation at:  tr@vcpusd.org

why would our school district even try and reopen schools if they really cared about the students and our community in valley center? yes i agree online school is really tough, but opening is not safe at all. regarding mission vista school just opened and already has cases of covid. i understand that it was teachers vote and the yes votes won by only two teachers. which means 49% of the teachers are getting forced to go back even though they don’t feel safe. To even think that they are hoping it all goes well and putting families in danger is crazy and doesn’t make sense. As a valley center high school student i do not feel safe going back to school. And if you guys really did care about your students you would ask them if they really feel safe going back.
