We try to be fair

One of the biggest controversies of recent years in Valley Center, almost as big as the sewer wars of thirty years ago, is the controversy surrounding the Lilac Hills Ranch project.

We try to be as fair as presenting information on this project as possible, since we know that there are supporters as well as opponents of the project in Valley Center, and they are about as passionate as can be when talking about a political/land use issue.

Last week we ran a story entitled: Planning Commission recommends approval of LHR; conditions may make it a Pyrrhic victory. A spokesman for Accretive, the developer, Jeff Powers, had some objections to the story, and we had some answers to his objections. We decided in the spirit of fairness to republish our original story, with his comments, and our replies to his comments. We felt that better serves the notion of open debate. We are going to make this discussion available on our Website: valleycenter.com/

In our October 1 issue we are inviting opinion pieces from the Accretive Investments group and the opposition. We will publish these on our Opinion page. Naturally, letters to the editor on the subject are also welcome. We ask that you limit your letters to 400 words or less.

*Note: Opinions expressed by columnists and letter writers are those of the writers and not necessarily those of the newspaper.
